Teevens returned to Dartmouth right after Stanford fired him. He has been there ever since (13 seasons, 2005-17).
Teevens' first five seasons back at Dartmouth were very rough, with a terrible record of 9-41 during that time.
But Dartmouth stuck with Teevens, and his teams improved. In the last eight seasons, Dartmouth has gone 52-28, with just one losing season. In the last four seasons, Dartmouth has gone 9-1 once (winning the Ivy League title) and 8-2 twice.
Including Teevens' earlier stint at Dartmouth (1987-91), he has now coached Dartmouth for 18 seasons, longer than any other Dartmouth coach.
FWIW.

This is Teevens' second go-round at Dartmouth. His first coaching career there was a microcosm of the last 13 years. He started 2-8, went 5-5 twice, then won the Ivy League twice with twin 9-1 seasons, at which point he decided to go to Tulane for six miserable seasons, then carried Spurrier's clipboard until he landed at Stanford.
I suspect that his being Dartmouth's quarterback from 1975 - 1978 also gave them a little patience with him. Perhaps he's their Todd Husak.Â
