Except he runs an uptempo spread. Any OC hired is going to share, generally, Shaws philosophy. Ball control, power oriented etc.
If Walters tried to run CFU's offense at Stanford it would be a disaster, just like when Buddy Teevens tried to bring Florida's potent, pass happy offense. Stanford, like Wisconsin, runs the Power O offense because it gives them their best chance to WIN given their resources and positions that they can successfully recruit, i.e., OL, TE, FB. It's not going to change as long as Shaw is coach, which I hope is many more seasons. I think Shaw looks to the NFL to find his OC, a coach well-versed in the Power O scheme and all its variances.

While I think this is true (except for calling UCF CFU), it is entirely possible that Walters understands and is willing to operate a power, run-first attack. He may even have experience in doing so - I don't know his whole coaching resume. At the least, he did play in a generically similar styled offense under Willingham at Stanford.
But that doesn't mean he is the best at coordinating such an offense. Emotionally, I like Stanford guys on our staff. There are likely some advantages as well, like "getting" Stanford - its pluses and minuses - from the get go. Having an alum as head coach has definitely paid off in stability. But, that doesn't necessarily mean the Stanford alum is the best guy available to coordinate our offense. And in the end, I want Shaw to hire the best guy available to coordinate our offense.
