A creative, dynamic offense and a power-oriented, ball control offense need not be mutually exclusive. I love those drives when we exert dominance over the other team in the fourth quarter. Man alive are they ever satisfying. But seeing Costello hit JJAW or Kaden Smith for long gains makes my heart go pitter-patter, too. I think Shaw has come pretty far in the playcalling department over the years (there is no play I love more than a goal-line throw to a TE out of play action in the jumbo set), so I'm hopeful he can identify an Offensive Coordinator that knows how to coach within a pro-style system but who will push Shaw a bit further toward a more dynamic offense. Not too far, mind you, or it won't work. That's why I think Red State might be on to something in thinking that coach may currently be in the NFL. Traditional personnel groupings, reliance on FBs and TEs, but knowing that you can't be too vanilla because that's death in the NFL.Â
