Per my recollection, the surprisingly effective game plan was Wisconsin's on the defensive side of the ball. The strategy was to grab and hold Stanford receivers on every play, knowing the refs wouldn't call them all. And they did not.
I also recall Stanford's LB - Sharcus Steen (one of the great Cardinal names of all time) - had a tremendous game. Wiscy's "run right at you" approach played into Steen's strengths.
