I wonder if the issue with Cartwright was who was he going to guard, more than anything else. That's been a primary concern, and was DEFINITELY evident last night - the roster doesn't seem to have anyone who can take on a good primary ball handler and stay in front of him. Running a straight isolation play for a point guard should not result in lightly contested layups.
And that brings up one underappreciated thing from the game - da Silva's defense late in the game being switched onto Aaron Holiday. His long arms disrupted Holiday more than any of our guards were able to - and he stayed with him more closely than Pickens did.
OTOH, it makes some other games - ASU, in particular - look much more difficult.
