I agree with BobK here. Rittman was a fantastic coach. 16 NCAA appearances in 18 year...I think most of our coaches wouldn' t mind a record that strong.
Read through his violations. His big sin, IMHO, was one of hubris and not realizing that his record didn't protect him from cutting corners, and it didn't protect him from vindictive parents, the Oregon coach who was ticked when his daughter didn't keep her scholarship or the East Bay coach. I promise you, he's not the only Stanford coach with practices that last 15 minutes too long. But whatever, it's over and done with, same with the three years wandering in the desert. Bernard Muir performed shamefully, but whatever, it's always a good idea to blindside a successful coach when parents of backups want to game the system.
