This is the point I think we're forgetting here.  Costello isn't here if we had taken Rosen.  Perhaps we sign someone else in that class, perhaps we don't, but we had K.J. locked in so early that I don't think any other quarterback recruitment advanced too far, if at all.  Heck, if we take Rosen, we might have struck out entirely in the class of 2016, as I'm pretty sure we never offered the other top QBs in that class.  We probably still land Mills, but that gap might well still be there in the "we land Rosen" hypothetical--just pushed back a year.

OK so Costello goes elsewhere, but then we offer someone else. Point is, you would have a scholarship QB available for spring camp. Bigger point is we need to have a scholarship QB in every class, and this is an example of why.
