Someone on the UConn board pointed out that all 9 of UConn's most recent championships has been because they've been lead by either Taurasi, Moore or Stewart.  Teams without one of those all-time greats have won nothing.  There was some hope that #1 in her class Samuelson would be one of those players but she didn't play in the final her freshman year (Stewart's senior year) and she is 0 for 2 in the last two years.  Some thought #1 in her class Walker would be one of those players but Geno didn't even let her on the court during the final four.  Here's hoping that UConn continues to miss on getting those truly great players.

In fact, if you look at their other 2 national titles (1995 and 2000), in 1995, an all-time great Rebecca Lobo led that team to their first undefeated season. I don't know much about their 2000 roster, but it appears that team was the only one which wasn't led by a superstar player. Sue Bird, the best point guard in women's basketball for the last two decades, was on the 2000 team

Also, UConn keeps putting themselves in position to get the next all-time great very frequently with Christyn Williams and Olivia Nelson-Ododa coming in next year.
