Brings up the question... who has been the most successful graduate transfer out of the program?

Young as you mentioned was hardly used at Boise State
Reihner was mostly a special teams guy at Penn State
Patrick Skov was used as a fullback at Ga Tech, where he started 8 games and played in 11. However, his stats were very meh and his touches went down as the season progressed.  He had 93 rushes for 377 yards in 11 games, but tied for the team lead in rushing touchdowns with 6, and added two more touchdown catches.

Dudchock had 17 receptions for 261 yards and a touchdown at Vanderbilt
Hopkins started 11 out of 12 games for Virginia, but had 11 catches for 90 yards and two TDs

Overall, none of our graduate outbound transfers became stars.  I'd say Skov probably had the best graduate transfer career.  But even though we have only taken one graduate transfer in (Brennan Scarlett), he had a bigger impact on our 2015 than any of the guys who transferred out.

I'd go with Charlie Hopkins, at least as far as surprising me with how well he did as a grad transfer.
[However, I had previously mixed Hopkins (who was the regular starter for Virginia - not quite a powerhouse program) and Kevin Reihner (who went to Penn State, a powerhouse program and saw more playing time than at Stanford but not that much). ]

You have to remember that catching passes is only part of a TE's game, and that was not the key part for Hopkins - he was more of a blocker.

His career took a significant uptick at UVa. He never started a game at Stanford as far as I can tell, and only played regularly his junior (red-shirt sophomore) year. He had two career catches. I think he was mainly remembered as being the target on the ill-fated, penultimate play in our unsuccessful comeback vs Utah in 2013.

I think that for him, going to a Power-5 school, becoming the starter at his position, almost quadrupling his career reception total, and hopefully getting a quality Masters degree in the bargain would look like an awfully good deal.

Dudchock I was less surprised with as he had flashed some ability, and was easier to see as he was more of a pass catcher. He did go from 5 career receptions at Stanford to 17 in a year at Vandy, and then went on to be a grad-assistant with the coaching staff there - so presumably was pretty happy with the place.
