With yesterday's split, the Giants are now one-half game ahead of the Dodgers and 1.5 behind the Rockies. Here's how I see it playing out:
Best case: Bumgarner comes back whole. Crawford, McCutchen, Jackson and Longoria return to their numbers of last year. Blanco, Tomlinson and Gregor continue to have solid backup numbers (which they currently have). Williamson returns, plays a full season and hits thirty homers. Melancon comes back, Will Smith comes back. Sandoval has 15 homers and celebrates with a lean tenderloin steak. Posey doesn't get injured and hits .300. We get one of the two wild card spots, and on to the world series. Stanford's Austin Slater has a walk-off HR in all three game 7's.
Worst case: Craw, Cutch, Jackson and Longo stick around .200 because they got old fast. Sandoval eats The Tenderloin. Pitchers continue to get injured. Pitchers figure out Williamson. 61 wins, 101 losses.
OBTW: George Kontos, who I always liked, just got his second win of the season, evening his record at 2-2. He has the third lowest ERA on the Pirates at 3.75.
