Wow, WIM, thanks for sharing - that LA Times editorial is pretty hard to argue against. When you see it all in one place, it's impossible to think anything other than that the folks at the top just wanted to cover it all up.

This is Lawyering 101 but it bears repeating for everyone else too: the coverup is often worse than the crime. When it doubt, disclose, disclose, disclose...

The real problem here is that, at least given what we know now, the administration was not in doubt. They decided to do what it took to bury this problem. Makes one wonder what else is lurking in the wings that probably will never be disclosed.
