1. We need to tackle well.
2. Our passing game needs to operate at a B+ level or above. I’m assuming our running game continues to be mediocre at best, although having Herbig back in the lineup should help, and I saw some flashes vs ASU in the third quarter.
3. Special teams need to continue to operate at a high level.
I think #3 will happen, #2 is likely (Costello has the #2 PER in the PAC 12 behind Oregon’s Herbert and ahead of WSU’s Minshew), and that we have a better than even chance with #1. Accordingly, I think we win 30-27.
4. One or two key take-aways from the Cougs (with no turnovers ourselves).
0 for 4.
I see a lot of "Gamed", half-hearted entries seeking to duck the 10pt penalty by picking perplexed Cardinal by 1 or 2.
Sadly, for the first time I am abandoning caution to the wind: COUGS 31, CARDS 17. Love ain't at full strength.
I think Minshew comes in Smoking Hot with the most prolific passing attack in America.
Our pass rush won't be enough to slow them down, and our Safeties are atrocious.
Adebo and Holder are solid; Adebo is a first team Pac12 STUD. But, Minshew has 4 targets on every play.
By the 4th quarter our DLine tongues will be dragging. LB Alfieri is OUT; We don't beat Oregon without him.
Wazzu gets the Huskies in Pullman for Apples this year, and after throttling the Ducks the Cougs are smeling Roses.
Mark this game: This is the Waterloo for the "Shaw Run First" philosophy.
After limping out of ASU last week, Shaw's neck was even stiffer. Until he fails, he will Run First.
I think we end up 8-4, and we need to bring in Troy Walters as OffCo from NEBR for some new juice in the Playbook.
I hope I am wrong, and we get two pick-6s or a 90yd Scoop-and-Score. We may need them.
