In an era of rampant grade inflation and diminished standards, when someone majoring in criminal justice from Southern Alabama University makes the Academic All-American list and not a single student from Stanford or Cal does, I wonder whether there's even any point to having such an honor anymore. 

BTW - here's an interesting recent counter-argument against fetishizing those all-A students.
