Next progression- getting the ball out quicker. Part of that is schematic. Lots of downfield throws. They threw more slants and drags this year. But it still is not a quick passing attack.
If I’m Shaw, I’m looking at what Indy does. They incorporate tight ends and backs well. So it’s a framework Stanford can use. Luck is getting the ball out significantly faster than when he played under Pagano. It’s made a of immense proportions difference.
So completely agree with all this. I saw way too many times this season when Costello threw WR screens that were tackled for no gain because the ball didn't get out fast enough. You don't have a second to spare on those plays. Costello would take a step back and turn then throw. He needs to get the snap and throw all in one motion.
Costello also needs to lower his interception number. He led the Pac-12 in that category this season.
