I think the difference is that that was year 8 of the Dawkins experiment. If that's all you can produce 8 years in, you gotta go. That's nearly two full recruiting cycles.
And I'm no apologist for Haase: I've said along he should get five seasons so that by season 5 it's all his recruits. If season 5 is anything like 15-15 (8-10), yeah, he should go too. The problem with the past few seasons is that we haven't had good, healthy starters. Dawkins left a bare cupboard and I think Haase has recruited the best players Stanford has seen since the end of the Monty years. Now it's a question of keeping them healthy (and not leaving for the NBA). Every team deals with injuries, so that alone is no excuse, but we have yet to see a starting lineup of Haase players play together consistently. Next season will be very telling, and year 4 of the Haase experiment. Flameouts like last night definitely decrease my faith in Haase, but I think anything less than 5 seasons wouldn't be giving him a fair shake, barring an extremely dire performance (say, 2-16 in conference).
