Wait, I thought the rivalry game was USF? No matter who it is, great knowledge about the forced rivalry created by Bob Diaco being lost with UConn move to Big East!
I do think UConn should drop Football. There is so much competition for a shrinking pool of players in the Northeast. Though CT does produce its share of football talent, it leaves the state for greener pastures in numbers too great for UConn to develop any traction. If UConn was in the ACC for Football, it might help, but Basketball and believe it or not, Baseball are the two sports it does best at.
They would fit well in the ACC. UConn needed the ACC to add UConn and UCF. That would make the most sense to keep Football. Hartford and Orlando are the #30 and #19 TV markets, so would make some sense. Going to Big East is kind of waving the white flag, IMO.
