Certainly better for MBB
Marquette the top team bit lost their coach to Penn State. DePaul next. That’s it.

Well, there is Nova. They’ve been okay at basketball lately. DePaul was tied for last in Big East last year.
But broadly I find this interesting. UConn has a new President starting in a month or so, and lately the local press has finally realized UConn has led the nation in the overall subsidy of its athletic programs for several years now.
Makes me wonder if this is connected to deemphasizing football. They’d be the largest program to do that in a while.

For WBB it may not make much difference. They went 102-0 in league the last 6 years in a conference that had more cream puffs than a Costco bakery. But unless they start playing SCarolina, ND, Baylor, Oregon and us every year, I don’t think much will change.

good point. let's check their schedule...next year they have games scheduled against ohio state, notre dame, baylor, and tennessee, and games with dates to be determined against oregon and south carolina. but not us.

Perfect timing for UConn WBB. Their schedule next year will be the easiest I can recall--the only team that should give them any sort of competition will be Oregon. That game is in Storrs, though, so the odds of UConn going undefeated in the regular season (even in their "rebuilding year") are really, really high.

Will UCF be so despondent over losing their historic rivalry game with UConn that they can't muster up their full effort against us in September?!

Wait, I thought the rivalry game was USF? No matter who it is, great knowledge about the forced rivalry created by Bob Diaco being lost with UConn move to Big East!
I do think UConn should drop Football. There is so much competition for a shrinking pool of players in the Northeast. Though CT does produce its share of football talent, it leaves the state for greener pastures in numbers too great for UConn to develop any traction. If UConn was in the ACC for Football, it might help, but Basketball and believe it or not, Baseball are the two sports it does best at.
They would fit well in the ACC. UConn needed the ACC to add UConn and UCF. That would make the most sense to keep Football. Hartford and Orlando are the #30 and #19 TV markets, so would make some sense. Going to Big East is kind of waving the white flag, IMO.
