Via local reports in San Diego, QB Ryan Katz, who lost his starting job up in Card in OR-vallis is transferring to San Diego State for a chance to start for one final year. The QB coach here happens to be one Brian Kelly, who knows his business. Buzz has it that WR Brice Butler and blithe spirit RB Dillon Baxter ( a SD guy) are also transferring IN HOPES OF PLAYING TIME @ A BCS (SOON TO BE) CONFERENCE SCHOOL. Those of you who are presuming some evil intent by U.SC in squeezing people out appear to be blowing smoke in several cases. There are plenty of legitimate reasons for hating U$C and your frippery only dilutes those just declarations, so give it a frickin' rest. My 2 cents.
I don't know if thinking that Kiffin and the USC coaches might be telling Kyle Prater and others that they have little to know chance of playing at SC counts as a conspiracy theory. I think that is kind of business as usual at a lot of the big football factories. I know people have long thought that Nick Saban does similar stuff at Alabama, for example. Here's an article from the WSJ discussing how Saban has cleared his roster in the past.

And it would make sense that USC, with its more limited scholarship allotment due to the NCAA penalties would do the same. The Carlisle and Armstead situations are different, as is the Dillon Baxter situation. I've never understood exactly what happened with Baxter, but it is clear from listening to the Trojan's broadcasters that he just never took to any team discipline at all. His failure to develop is one of the big reasons they seem to have little depth at RB right now.Â
