The only reason he was in position to recover the fumble is because Toohill blew by him quicker than a BART turnstile, and he spent most of the play chasing the guy he was supposed to have blocked.</p><p><br></p><p>Mostly, it was a great play by Toohill, but still, I’m sure that play will give him nightmares.</p><p><br></p><p>Also 66 made his best impression of garden topiary as Fox rushed by him, which might have been irrelevant but for the fact that Fox recovered the fumble.</p><p><br></p><p>Reviewing the play, the blocking was so piss poor that I wondered whether it was meant to have been a screen. But alas, no, the running back was busy double teaming our defensive end, and upfield of no less than three offensive linemen who were looking in on two Stanford rushers bearing down on the QB. Great play by Toohill and Fox, and shameful execution by the Northwestern line.</p><p><br></p><p>BC</p>

</p><p><br></p><p>The TD was marginally better for NW's chances than the safety. A safety means a kickoff to Stanford, which runs out the clock. </p><p>
