Here's a brief quote from Jason Kelce, Eagles Pro Bowl Center, in an article from The Athletic about Zach Ertz on Luck's retirement. Other Eagles players' comments were reported int the piece:
“There’s always been 100 percent injury rate,” Kelce said. “You try to get used to it. And then, as you play longer, you have more and more things that just add up.”
A 100% injury rate is pretty brutal, but it is absolutely true. Every player will get injured if they play long enough. It happens sooner for some than others, but everyone will be injured. The question is what can guys play with and what can they not. Josh Garnett sealed his NFL fate by refusing to play with a dislocated finger. Some may say that's smart and they may be right, but the reality is there is no room in the NFL for someone who won't play through a dislocated finger when other guys are playing through that and more.
