I think there's a precise moment at which the Tedsel broke down: the Oregon State game in 2007.

I remember watching that game with my nephew, who's a Cal grad but otherwise a great guy. If I remember correctly, Cal was on the goal line going in for the winning score with seconds left. They were #2 at the time, and #1 had lost earlier in the day. They were inches away from the #1 ranking, and I said so out loud. "I can't believe you guys are gonna be ranked #1." The exact details escape me, but I think there was a fumble a play or two later, and it all came burning down.

Such a shame.
