I'm a volleyball neophyte, but was very impressed with how our team turned it around after the first miserable set, and without Plummer. The commentators (including a certain well known coach) said it was mostly about our serves keeping Oregon out of system. Even I could see that compared with the two recent losses our serves were a lot harder to handle.
So...how hard is it to serve in this way? Is this a little like free throws--sometimes you are "on" but if some players start to miss it can be contagious? Our serves during the losses seemed to me to be higher and safer and more like free balls, as if we were scared to miss.
