Any insight into why the Pac 12 doesn't do a conference tournament? I see that some other conferences hold them.
2 or 3 allows a team to avoid the top overall seed as long as possible. In this case, I don't think it matters as a healthy Stanford squad is certainly capable of beating any other team in the tournament. #4 also runs the risk of losing to the, normally highly motivated, #5 overall.
The Pac-12 barely can justify the MBB and WBB tournaments, very hard to see the value of a conference tournament for WVB. Those tournaments often put athletes into back-to-back-to-back game situations they don't see throughout the year, which can lead to injuries and ailments just as the NCAA tournament begins.
And even if the event was needed as a gimmick to generate conference interest, where would the event be held? Would Pac-12 fans would travel by air to the event? Especially when ~half of the universities are hosting rivalry football games that same weekend, and most of the rest would have alums more likely travel to the road rivalry game than fly to a WVB tournament.
