One of the hardest things for a coach to do with a young team is decide how much freedom to give them. Asking Huestis and Brown (who has only a slightly better three-point percentage than Huestis) to stop or reduce their shooting is dangerous--players who are wondering if they should take a shot are usually a liability. If they are shooting well in practice, I imagine they have a green light and Dawkins is trying to get the entire team to understand situational decision-making. I am surprised that Huestis attempted none of the 33 3s, coming off of his 2/3 game vs. Colorado.
