I can see Shaw having NFL appeal, but I don't know if I've ever heard of a college coach going to the pros coming off a losing season in college. Lincoln Riley would seem to be the college coach with the most NFL appeal if you want an offensive-minded guy, and if you want a defensive-minded coach, Matt Rhule. I honestly don't see NFL fans getting geeked at the prospect of Shaw as their team's new Head Coach and question La Canfora's notion Shaw could have box office impact considering Stanford Football attendance.
But the Redskins? AYFKM? Maybe Shaw has some affinity for Bruce Allen from Raiders days, but any HC has to have personnel control to be set up for real success, IMO. Bruce Allen isn't gonna let a Head Coach make the personnel decisions, which means Shaw - who we know is a very opinionated guy who wants things his way - would be stuck with players he doesn't pick. Maybe some coaches can accept not having personnel control, but David Shaw is not going to be one of them. And then you have the leaking and backstabbing culture in that woebegone franchise.
To answer my own question, Shaw considering the Washington Redskins is way more unrealistic than him being courted for NFL jobs coming off 4-8.
