Kind of interested why Angels would give up a top prospect for cash and a player to be named later. I suspect Cozart was required in that deal - salary dump

With Trout entering the prime of his career (scary thought), the Angels are going for it now.   To do that,  they need to clear salary to bring on useful MLB ready talent (or try and fail to sign Cole).   Tossing in a prospect to entice another team to swallow a contract is becoming more common these days. 

If Farhan sniffed out the Angels need to clear salary and leveraged that conclusion into a prospect,  that bodes well for the Giants.
