The Louisville players are a totally different situation. Their coach was fired for abuse. Any kid there should have been able to leave and immediately play at the school of their choice. There is absolutely no way those kids don't get immediately eligible. I do not believe Smith applied for a waiver, because they likely believed there was not much of a chance there.
Per the WBBBlog, 28 have been approved and 6 (though likely many more unconfirmed, ex. Mizzou put in three, nothing has been announced.) have been denied.
