Bob can tell us whether there is anything comparable for regular admissions for special consideration for athletes. The one transfer athlete I remember is Brook Smith in WBB who transferred from Duke in 2003. I'm sure there must have been a handful of others--but it is never going to be a reliable part of athletic recruiting.
HS applicants - 4.34% admitted (2062 of 47498)
Transfers - 0.97% admitted (24 of 2466)
Unless Stanford's undergrad retention rate changes dramatically, the number of admitted transfers will remain small enough that any coach thinking transfers are a fast path to success, or an important recruiting back-up plan should not even take a role at Stanford.
