Stanford needs way more Richard Shermans on its roster.
If you have a player throwing tantrums about something, it’s a good thing. It shows how much passion he has for winning. Football is an emotional sport because there are so very few games. You don’t get many second chances and must make adjustments fast to things not working. Harbaugh of all people should have gotten along with Sherman famously because they both are insanely passionate about winning.
If anyone doubts Richard Sherman’s ability to be successful in the rest of his life beyond football, they just aren’t paying attention or don’t know how to identify the traits that make people successful. There are different ways to succeed, but Sherman has shown whatever he does and how he approaches things is one way.
How many other players in Stanford history make the 4th and 20 catch in 2007? Dude had to have the speed to get to the sticks, had to catch the ball, and endure a big hit to hold on to it. He turned himself from 5th rd pick to Hall of Famer. He overcame a torn Achilles nobody thought he could return to the same level from, and became statistically the best CB in the NFL two years later.
Is it really hard to imagine this guy making smart investments? Is it really hard to see him starting initiatives that become impactful? Each person defines success differently. It is clearly obvious Richard Sherman knows what it is for him and that he knows how to create it for himself. It’s fine to disagree with how he acts or what he believes, but only someone with an axe to grind against him would ever doubt his ability to be successful at whatever it is he chooses. Part of that is knowing his own limitations, something he has absolutely mastered as a football player.
