Perhaps this is nothing, but I found the wording of the statement by the Stanford spokesperson to be a little odd

"While we are working to understand the family’s wishes, we are not in a position to share the student’s name"

Was a translator not immediately available?  Or were their wishes just difficult to comprehend?

The Santa Clara County coroner’s office identified the man as Eitan Weiner, a resident of Stanford.

From a Google search, appears to be a local kid from Los Altos.
