It would be hard for KJ Costello to live in Starkville, MS after being in cosmopolitan and diverse places in So and Nor Cal, but from a career development standpoint, I can't see any place making more sense than playing his final year for Mike Leach. Here's why:
First, KJ was touted as a top NFL prospect going into last season. He was known for and already proven he can run a "pro style" offense. That means he's familiar with protections and more sophisticated offensive concepts that what Leach runs.
Second, Costello will have a chance to play Alabama, Auburn and LSU defenses, that if he performs well against will heighten his draft value in the eyes of NFL personnel people.
Third, he'll get an opportunity to play in a system that has proven over and over and over that a QB can pick it up quickly and put up big numbers; no steep learning curve to learn the offense.
Fourth, he's already got the Stanford degree, so why worry about school anymore when he's thinking of an NFL career. There is no shame coming from Mississippi State after proving yourself at Stanford.
