He’s been learning a pro-style system, which is why i imagine he looked at uw. Why go backwards to an air raid? He showed he can run a pro style, he brings the most value and grows the most building on that.
It’s also strange to me that the issue of character doesn’t seem to come up as often as it should. I don’t just dislike Mike Leach as an opponent, I think he’s a particularly bad person. As a parent, I’d never want a person like Leach playing a role in my child’s development. Character helps ppl like Shaw, Petersen, and Duke’s Coach K recruit. It’s a reason why larger programs never scooped up Leach despite his results.
Also, as a practical consideration, I think anyone joining leach early on is heading into a lot of pain. I could see them going through five quarterbacks this year.
