Right. But rather than Denver being dropped, it was Denver that dropped the Olympics, after a referendum in Colorado decided not to go ahead with the games that had been warded to them. Innsbruck was pulled in very late in the calendar because they were more ready than anyone else to do it.
Franz Klammer winning the downhill at Winter Park would have been must less dramatic than winning in front of the home fans. His run is a great memory from those games.
