An article on CBS Sports about Owusu (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/story...-about-him) includes this line:
It's my understanding that the bolded is incorrect--that athletes who suffer concussions are in fact more likely to suffer another, e.g. this study about college soccer players:

Quote:"I wanted to make sure I was perfectly fine before I came back to football," Owusu said. "I love this game too much to give it up. I think concussions are a hot topic, especially in the NFL. The doctor I saw is on the committee in terms of spine, neck and back. He's one of the best out there. He said I have no more susceptibility to concussions than anyone else. It kind of eased my mind a little bit and helped me come back to the sport."
It's my understanding that the bolded is incorrect--that athletes who suffer concussions are in fact more likely to suffer another, e.g. this study about college soccer players:
Quote:A study conducted by McGill University in Montreal found that 60 percent of college soccer players reported symptoms of a concussion at least once during the season. The study also revealed that concussion rates in soccer players were comparable to those in football. According to this study, athletes who suffered a concussion were four to six times more likely to suffer a second concussion.
