Cal fans might have something to say about their national championship coach, Pete Newell.
Pete Newell's son Pete Jr. coached at Santa Cruz high for thirty years. He was a young guy when my team played against them. At the time, ours were the worst two teams in the league. In 2005, Pete Jr. won a state D3 championship, finishing 36-1.
