I agree. We have 7th and 5th graders in PAUSD. There is no comparison to the asynchronous mess from the Spring.
My son told me this evening that it’s easier to get all his work done this year. “There’s just more time. I don’t HAVE to go hang around Piazza’s after school with the guys anymore!”
We are the lucky ones - our kids are old enough to function independently online, and young enough not to mind being stuck with us. My wife and I are both working from home if they need us for something. The kids each have their own Chromebook, a solid Internet connection and a quiet place to work. They have particularly great teachers this year. They don’t have special education needs. They have one or two friends that they’re keeping in touch with.
When I think about return to school, which is now up for a vote in PAUSD, I think it is most urgent for families with tougher situations than ours. And for that reason, I’m tentatively in favor of it, based on the schedule that is being presented, which is fairly conservative.
