What will be interesting is how the Pads play the series.  They have locked the 4 seed and can’t move up.  So I suspect it will be a dance of playing the regulars just enough to keep them fresh. That may help the Giants a bit.  (I vacillate on whether the 7 inning DH on Friday is good for the Giants.  I suppose it’s better than having played one more in SD at a time when the Pads were smoking hot)

My vote is yes for one additional reason:  if you're an inferior team, then I think your chances to win a particular game go up (even if only marginally) if the game is shortened.  The theory being that the more outs in a game, the more time for the superior team to prove its superiority.  Thus, 7 inning DHs are better than 2 9-inning games.  Who knows, though . . . just a theory.

But in truth, the Padres have ownage on Giants this season.  Gyros could get swept.  I don't think 1-3 will do it (even if the Giants can win today).  Fun season and am so glad MLB played (and gutted it out).
