The rule is you can pinch run.  I remember that from an earlier game.  But the Giants had run through their bench.  I think he was the runner in the 10th.  Ruf was last guy on bench and they used him to PH for Robertson in the 11th.   Had they run for Dickerson (and I agree with Bob he isn’t slow) with a pitcher, Ruf would have been wasted as he would have taken Dickersons spot in left.
