Yeah, I'm going to have to go with "not particularly shady" (assuming it's true). Schools put all sorts of terms on scholarship offers, and USC needs players to enroll early. If Hawkins doesn't want to do it, there are plenty of fine schools across the nation that are willing to take him. What I don't get about this story is why SC feels it needs to have an answer now. There's, like, nine months between now and early enrollment. (Which is why, by the way, I don't think it's true. If someone's motives don't make sense, and the only source is a message board...I'm going to hang on a bit before believing any report.)
