Mendoza is very knowledgeable but she talks too much. Maybe, it's because there are only two of them, and she's not talked over by the two guys she's normally with.

I had similar thoughts today.

ESPN definitely has a no silence policy.   This is more critical now since there really isn't any fan noise to add to the broadcast.   Given COVID19's reality someone has to be saying something to avoid the ultimate sin of on-air silence.

However with 3 people she usually has the task of breaking up the typical announcer stories that often take crazy tangents.   She gets to bring it back to baseball (or softball) with a quick insight on tactics, a player vulnerability, etc.   With only 2 she has almost too much time to dive deep into player insights and does not seem to have a library of down time stories.

It is a tough balance.   Mendoza is a bit too focused on the deep dive into the sport psychology.     Walton (in basketball) is often too focused on the tangents.  Given those options I will take Mendoza and baseball over Walton and the Grateful Dead every time.
