For those that don't know, one team can be optimized to win dual meets, or to win conference meets, or to win nationals. Stanford beat K.al in the dual meet. K.al barely squeaked out the conference win. But K.al had nationals wrapped up before the final event.
There were some impressive swims in the meet. Janet Evans 30 year old record in the 1650 was finally broken in a very close race. There were American and NCAA records broken (including Stanford's 400 FR getting an American record). As Rowdy Gaines described, one swimmer missed a record I didn't expect to fall by a half a fingernail (0.01 seconds).
Men's Nationals is next weekend.
