Today 64,000 new cases of COVID-19 were reported, the most since the end of July.  This third wave is hitting states that are in the midwest, which weren't hit as hard in the first wave (New York area) or the second wave (Sun belt, especially Florida, Texas, Arizona, and California).  Wisconsin and Missouri each reported over 3000 cases.  Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Tennessee are each around 2,000 new cases.  Rt is estimated to be above 1 in all but 10 states (https://rt.live/).  Deaths remain below 1000, but are no longer declining, and I expect them to start rising again in the next couple weeks.

Buckle up; it's going to be a rough winter.

Let's see, what was it that changed a few weeks ago?    Was it that college football resumed, or that school restarted?   Nah, it must be that people stopped wearing masks.  Or maybe it was the political rallies.
