I was hoping Fudd would choose UCLA as I hate UConn and their ability to get the top players in the country. In the past 10 years (2012-2021 classes), they have gotten the #1 player in the country 6 times. All other universities in the country combined have gotten the #1 player in the country 4 times.
But the silver lining is that Fudd at UCLA would have drawn a lot of West Coast talent to UCLA a la Ionescu and Oregon, and I am glad we won't have to compete with that from a recruiting perspective. Other silver lining is that the top 2022 guards should be looking at UConn and thinking there won't be any playing time for themselves. Here's hoping we get some combination of 2022 guards Rice, Jones and Jackson. As well as 2022 bigs Betts, Gardiner and Nnaji. Having two #1 recruits on our team (Jones '19 and Betts '22) and then replacing Jones with Watkins '23, would certainly make up for this Fudd news.
