Basketball teams aren't going to be able to play with even one freaking positive test, with contact tracing basically involving the whole team, given the nature of the sport. Worse, college basketball teams play 2 times a week, so many games can be shaved off schedules with just one positive test.
It isn't just your teammates, it is the opponent. If a starter for your opponent tests positive for COVID within 48 hours after a game, members of your team were legitimate close contacts. Imagine this happening in a conference tournament, where a team may play two opponents in that 48-hour window. And one of those opponents was planning on going to the NCAA tournament....
Nah, there's no reason that players or teams would cheat on their COVID tests... Is anyone tracking to see if "false positives" have been more frequent in college football than in real life?
