Looks like he was dealing with some serious mental health issues. I don't want to draw the connection to CTE if it is not there, but it would definitely be worth investigating.
I cannot imagine the pain his family must be going through. He graduated high school as one of the nation's top recruits, and was headed to Stanford, where two older siblings had gone. They must have all felt at that time that his future was so bright.
