Hey, we all have grammatical hills we’re willing to die on, and for me, saying “on accident” instead of on by accident (or accidentally if symmetry is important in your life) is one.  The other one is using “less” for countable plurals.

I'll split the difference with you - I prefer (and use) "on accident" only when it's clearly being used as an antonym for "on purpose", but otherwise agree that by accident is the preferable usage. And I hate hate hate when less is used in place of fewer, so I'll join you with my torch and pitchfork on that hill.
