Not sure of the importance or relevance of the discussion around step down or downgrade for Coach Johnson. Clearly, he and his family are already financially set for life if he managed his finances well. And he was able to do this simply from helping 10 to 15 young men improve their ability to play a game he and they love about 35 times per year. Pretty amazing. If Coach Johnson or any of us should choose or be forced to leave a job at one employer to do the same thing we love and do well for another employer and still make more than 99.5 percent of the people in the world, downgrade/step down wouldn't be among the top 1000 of our concerns. Don't know his circumstances, but can see how as a guy approaching 60, he might want to join an employer with values more in line with his as it moves into a higher level of competition. Definitely could be a fresh start and opportunity to finish out his career doing something he absolutely loves and thrives on. Seems like a pretty good deal to me and I wish him well.Â
