We have collectively been through this discussion before on the football transfer portal. When one arrives at Stanford as a freshman, one brings some hopes, some dreams, and some expectations. It is normal that things don't work out exactly as envisioned. Sometimes that is an obvious "good" thing, other times it is muddier. After a few years, and certainly after a four year degree, it is normal that smart people will find opportunities elsewhere that are, or at least appear to be, better than remaining at Stanford. In the end, virtually everybody leaves. It is just a question of timing.
