The other factor is that the program is behind everybody else in inducements. No January enrollment, adherence to the Big Visit, no JC kids, virtually no transfers (except future fighter pilots who don't get any snaps). That puts them behind the eight ball with a lot of kids. Then there is the early signing date which has thrown off Shaw and staff.
But the bright side is that the conference is mediocre giving Stanford a slight chance to make an occasional Rose Bowl except in a season in which the RB is a semifinalist game.
