Sark has also recruited TX well -- this year Alabama signed 7 4-star or better recruits from the state, including 2 5-stars. this load is roughly equal to the number of 4-stars or better than all the TX schools have inked so far. Herman worn out a number of the t-sip fans I know. they had high hopes for Herman after the disappointment of Charlie Strong but Herman in their eyes ended up closer to a Mackovic than to a Royal.
That seems about right to me. (I'm more engaged as a Texas fan than a Stanford fan.) The prevailing idea was that Herman was a stunningly bad game day coach. He obviously did really well in the relaxed atmosphere of the Alamo Bowl, but even more so than the close one's he lost, Herman really lost some head scratchers. During his tenure, Texas had some physically incredible teams, but could not get consistent. This while over at OU (and A&M as well), those coaches won every game they were supposed to win.
